Candice Lys

Candice Lys grew up in a very large Métis family in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, and now lives in Yellowknife. She is a PhD Candidate in public health science through the University of Toronto and the Co-Founder/Executive Director of FOXY (Fostering Open eXpression among Youth) and SMASH (Strength, Masculinities, and Sexual Health), sexual health education programs that work with youth across the three territories. In 2014, FOXY was the sole laureate of the $1 million Arctic Inspiration Prize for the first time ever. Candice enjoys spending time at her family cabin gardening, and adventures with her adorable beagle puppy Maple.
