Dr. Jeff Saarela

Dr. Jeff Saarela is a botanist who studies plant evolution and biodiversity. His research is focused on the biodiversity of plants in the Canadian Arctic, and on biodiversity and evolutionary history of grasses, the world’s most economically important group of plants. The goals of his research are to understand how species are related to each other, where they are found in the world and how their appearances and DNA distinguish them. Jeff is a research scientist and the Director of the Centre for Arctic Knowledge and Exploration at the Canadian Museum of Nature.
