Jade Shiller is a research scientist and biological oceanographer at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, B.C. Her research focuses on low oxygen regions in the oceans and the microbial communities that live there. As our climate continues to change, and low oxygen zones expand, it is critical to improve our understanding of these regions. She also shares her love of the ocean and the natural world by volunteering at the Vancouver Aquarium and UBC’s Pacific Museum of the Earth. In her free time, she bikes, hikes and plays ultimate frisbee.
