Jeremy DeWaard

Jeremy DeWaard completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph in biological sciences and a master’s in molecular evolution. After finishing his Ph.D. in molecular biodiversity at the University of British Columbia, he returned to Guelph to take up his current position as Director of Collections at the Centre for Biodiversity Genomics. Jeremy leads a team of 20 staff and students, manages a natural history collection of 3 million animal specimens and oversees all operations and research initiatives linked to the acquisition, assembly and processing of specimens for DNA barcode analysis. His research interests include biodiversity assessment, biosurveillance and insect systematics.
