Julie LaRoche is a professor and Canada Research Chair in the Department of Biology at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As a biological oceanographer, her research is focused on the study of marine phytoplankton and microbes and how they affect the cycling of carbon, nitrogen and other elements in the ocean. Julie holds an BSC degree from McGill University and a PHD degree from Dalhousie University. Before taking her current position at Dalhousie University, Julie worked at oceanographic research institutes in the USA and in Germany.
