Marta Thorpe is a Chancellor’s Scholar and biomedical sciences student at the University of Guelph, as well as a University of Toronto Book Award recipient.
She is a dedicated volunteer in her community, an active voice for encouraging inclusivity and is described as “eager to learn.”
She calls Jamaica, Poland and Brampton, Ont. home, but is known by friends as a Yukon enthusiast after being captivated by life in Canada’s true North working as a research assistant at the Kluane Red Squirrel Project in 2016/17. It was here that she deepened her interest in environmental stewardship and Indigenous relations.
