Reina Lahtinen
Participant Team Lead

Reina is an experienced Students on Ice Foundation staff member, returning to the team after a five-year hiatus living and working on Canada’s west coast. From 2007 to 2012, she contributed to the success of SOI Arctic and Antarctic expeditions, managing logistics, operations and partnership development. A passionate educator and advocate, much of her work in recent years has been dedicated to children’s rights, social justice and the environment, with a particular focus on connecting children, youth and families to the natural world. A certified teacher and early childhood educator, her past experiences include working for charitable organizations, child care centres, forest and nature school programs, community development initiatives and the federal public service. Reina brings her organizational, programming, research and logistical talents to the Canada C3 team, along with her love of Canada and her Québécois and Finnish roots. Reina considers herself fortunate to have lived in three provinces over the years, and to have visited six provinces and one territory so far. What she values most about Canada is the diversity of the people, communities, landscapes and wildlife. Her most cherished past-time is heading out on a trail in any season to enjoy the outdoors with her partner, family and friends in the Gatineau Hills.
