Sandra Lawn’s mother was born on an Alberta farm of Norwegian and German parents. Her father grew up in Alberta of Scottish and United Empire Loyalist parents. She was born in Sudbury, spending her younger years in mining communities across Canada. At Queen’s University she earned a B.Sc. in 1959 and a master’s in public administration in 1988. In 1966, she moved to Prescott, Ont. and her third daughter arrived. Her life work includes motherhood, 15 years as mayor and 50 years as volunteer and consultant in fields of environment, economic development, governance, local financial management, the arts, mental health and the bioeconomy.
