Tom is a geographer. After graduating from the University of Waterloo, he joined Canarctic Shipping working mostly on the shipboard use of satellite imagery and marine radar in support of shipping in both Arctic and Antarctic waters. In 2008, Tom joined the Canadian Ice Service, part of Environment and Climate Change Canada, where he presently works in the Applied Science section. Since 2010, he has been a member of the Franklin Search Team that successfully located HMS Erebus and HMS Terror.
