Reflection and Reconciliation: A Look at Residential Schools in Canada

Section D3 of the Ontario Curriculum for Canadian World Studies (History) is “Communities, Conflict, and Cooperation.” Specifically, as per section D3.3, this lesson will “explain some significant events, developments, and/or issues that affected First Nations, Inuit, and/or Métis people in Canada during this period” (The Ontario Curriculum, Canadian and World Studies Grades 9-10, p. 120). This learning module will explore the operation of residential schools in Canada and the impact on residential school survivors and Indigenous communities.
