On legs 6 to 12 of the Canada C3 expedition, we are on Inuit land, and are visiting many communities throughout Nunavut. Here, 70% of the population speaks Inuktut as their first language. (Inuktut is a blanket term that refers to all Inuktitut dialects). Our leg 8 participant Aluki Kotierk impressed upon us the importance of learning the language of the people who live on this land. We are grateful to Aluki for taking the time to guide us in understanding the language, and teaching us.
