Aviaq Johnston grew up in Igloolik, Nunavut. She is a graduate of Nunavut Sivuniksavut, and has a diploma in social service work from Canadore College. Aviaq spends most of her time reading and writing. She received a Governor General’s History Award for her short story, Tarnikuluk. Her debut novel, Those Who Run in the Sky, was released in the spring of 2017, and her new children’s book, What’s My Superpower?, comes out in June. Aviaq loves to travel and has lived in Australia and Vietnam. She currently lives between Iqaluit, Nunavut and Ottawa, Ont.
