Jim Kyte is the only legally deaf player to play in the National Hockey League. He played with Winnipeg, Pittsburgh, Calgary, Ottawa and San Jose. He reinvented himself through education and continuous learning. Today, he is the proud Dean, School of Hospitality and Tourism at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ont. Jim is happily married for 24 years to his wife Nancy and proud father of three upstanding young men. His motto is “stay uncomfortable”, meaning one should always be experiencing new things, pushing the status quo and be committed to lifelong learning. Demand excellence from yourself and model the way.
