Karen is an Alberta artist and educator who enjoys adventure, loves good community and seeks beauty. She teaches high school fine arts and environmental stewardship, and is thrilled that many of her students keep in touch. Karen’s imagery comes from the unfolding story she lives, often beginning with a question or an insight that invites processing. She makes liberal use of metaphors and juxtaposition to make meaning in her work, and enjoys the ensuing conversations her work invokes between artist, the art and the viewer. She and her husband live in the mountains of the Crowsnest Pass where they raised their 3 wonderful daughters. Since they are recent empty nesters, they now have 2 dogs, 2 ducks, and 1 peregrine falcon.
