We began our last day Cambridge Bay (Ikaluktutiak) by visiting the new Canadian High Arctic Research Station (CHARS). We also took this opportunity to drop off George Hobson’s library for safekeeping at the new research station. George was the Director of the Polar Continental Shelf Project and a leader in Canadian arctic science. His family requested that his personal library be donated to CHARS. Afterwards, we went to the Kiilinik High School for a presentation. We also had the opportunity to meet with the students and show them our Giant Floor Map. The CHARS team, led by David Scott, then got the chance to visit our ship. We also spent some time visiting the town and seeing the local sights. After all of this excitement in the morning, sadly, it was time to leave Cambridge Bay. We set sail for the first time on Leg 10! Our talented Leg 10 chef Andrea Carlson worked all day with our participants and staff to prepare a scrumptious meal. At dinner time, we got to enjoy the fruits of their labour. Tomorrow, we continue our journey west through the Northwest Passage.
