We continued our journey west through the Northwest Passage, sailing along Devon Island. In the morning, we made a quick visit to the former RCMP post, Dundas Harbour, where Canada C3 participant Jena Merkosak’s grandmother was born. Dundas Harbour was inhabited from 1924 to 1933 and from 1945 to 1951, but was closed due to ice difficulties. This was the first time Jena has visited her grandmother’s birthplace and we were touched to be there with her. Later on, we had participant-led workshops, with Hilary Inwood teaching about eco art activism, John Valliant leading a writing course and Charlene Bearhead sharing her knowledge about residential schools. We learned so much from each workshop.
