Plants and Lichens of the Canadian Arctic

Jeff Saarela is a research scientist at the Canadian Museum of Nature who studies terrestrial plants. His team is building a record all of the plants, lichens, mosses and liverworts that live in Canada’s Arctic, and keeping good examples of each in the national collections. This baseline data is especially important during periods of climate change. During the Canada C3 voyage, his team will be collecting coastal plants to build a pan-Canadian collection as a record of the voyage. The valuable specimens may be available to other researchers from the expedition, or other scientists that may have research questions.
