Leg 3: Baie-Comeau to Charlottetown

From Baie-Comeau, we travelled down the St. Lawrence River to the shore of the Gaspé Peninsula where we visited Petite-Vallée, a small village that has had a big impact on maintaining and promoting the music and culture of Francophones across the country. Then we crossed over to the ‘Côte Nord’ or ‘north coast’ of the St. Lawrence to explore the Mingan Archipelago with its mysteriously-shaped and unique monoliths. Our tour continued through areas of the country settled by the Acadian people after they were expelled from the Maritimes in the 1700s, visiting Havre St. Pierre, Anticosti Island and the Magdalen Islands. We celebrated Multiculturalism Day in the Baie des Chaleurs at Petit Rocher and then travelled on to Pugwash Nova Scotia, home of one of Canada’s two Nobel Prizes.
